A single level minimalist residence with a rectalinear form stretching across the building site from side to side set back from the streetscape creating space for the outdoor garden court, pool deck and entertainment verandah on the northern exposure for optimal orientation.

 

The living and private spaces are arranged in a rectalinear format allowing for the three bedroom spaces and their amenaties to be placed side by side and to be segregated from the open plan family, dining and kitchen areas which lead out onto the outdoor entertainment deck and garden court.

 

A rectangular concrete techtonic box makes up the main structure living program punctured through by high volume and clear-storey glazing facades to the northern elevation allowing an abundance of natural ambient light to filter into the building envelope.

 

The use of large natural timber screens on the covered outdoor entertainment patio and the living room corner glazed facades which allows for privacy from the adjacent street. A timber deck connects the verandah and elevated concrete pool deck area stepping down into the garden courtyard.

 

External building materials consisting of raw shutter concrete, packed stone, smooth platered painted walls, vertical sheet cladding and horizontal slatted natural timber screens enhance and bring about the minimalist architectural elements of this family home.
