A modern contemporary large sized home designed for entertaining friends and family and outdoor living was the initial brief given by the client with no size limitations on when it came to space and comfort in the initial planning of this residence.
This family home consists of five private bedroom spaces with the guest suite located on the ground floor program segregated and private from the living and entertainment areas. The four family bedrooms located on the upper floor are arranged and divided into two wings seperated by an intimate study nook alongside an outdoor family balcony capturing the view of this residentail estate in the eastern suburbs of Pretoria.
The ground floor program maximizes entertainment boasting with open plan living consisting of a bar area, large kitchen with private scullery, dining and family room all stacked around a large covered patio and pool deck area leading out onto a lush garden space for outdoor living.
A seperated games room alongside the entertainment patio is inter-connected to the pool terrace by a large timber deck. A private home theatre room for entertaining friends and family for favourite movie nights finds itself tucked in behind the games room corridor alongside the living area.
Aesthetically the architecture consists of clean linear lines that predominate the modern contemporary feel with a series of cantilever structural elements for shading the floor to ceiling height glazing for maximum ambient light on the northern facade of this home. The use of textured packed stone wall elements and natural wood cladding versus a varient of colour and smooth plastered walls brings about depth to the elevational treatment of the exterior.
